Il corso verterà principalmente sull’apprendimento delle strutture linguistiche, morfo-sintattiche e lessicali, attraverso le attività di reading comprehension, writing, e literary translation, con l'ausilio del testo letterario didattico: Emily Bronte: Wuthering Heights.

Each Unit , from 1 to 12 , deals with a different topic and reading passages , listening activities and writing skills. The Workbook activities and online activities will also be an important part of the course. Students will have to carry out homework activities on an e-learning platform.
Vocabulary: Phrasal verbs, collocations, word building, expressions and idioms, word families,. These will be linked to the following topics: People, health and fitness, Technology, Ambition and success, Natural disasters, the Media, Work, Jobs, travel and Holidays, Crime ,Fashion and some News articles will be chosen from the Guardian or The Times and discussed at lessons. Videos from Ted Talks will also be adapted to the class level.
Reading passages and activities such as Gapped texts, multiple choice and multiple matching. Identifying key information, key words in questions, identifying the best option carefully, Identifying different sections in a text. Identifying negative statements in a text.
Writing : Using formal and informal language. Writing a letter/ email. Using idioms and phrasal verbs, writing a formal email. Giving opinion and feedback, presenting arguments in formal essays. Brainstorming ideas, Writing a Story ,Sequencing events, using descriptive vocabulary. Writing a Review, writing a Report, presenting Factual information using linking words. Essay writing, Advantages and disadvantages, supporting arguments. Editing one’s work.
Essay part 1.(using links for contrast and structuring a paragraph)
Review :Describing a personal experience.
Report, text organization.
Letter of application using semi-formal language
Use of English activities, word formation and open cloze, multiple choice cloze tests. Phrasal verbs, sentence transformation, collocations and expressions.
Listening activities with multiple choice and filling the gaps. Sentence completion, multiple matching: identifying key words and taking notes, Identifying emotions and dealing with unknown words. Comprehension questions and learning to summarize content.
Speaking : collaborative tasks, ranking, comparing, agreeing and disagreeing , giving reasons,. Stating preferences, interviewing and responding. Discussion and compensating strategies ,Suggesting and offering .Expressing critical thinking and opinions. Describing similarities and differences ,techniques for persuading, Hypothesizing.

Nel corso si illustreranno i fondamenti di fonetica, fonologia e morfologia della lingua inglese, attraverso l’analisi, l’osservazione e la riflessione in prospettiva sociolinguistica delle dimensioni di variazione dell’inglese contemporaneo.
